Don't get blood on your hands - ad campaign launched for school holidays

Following the tragic deaths of three teenagers in February the Met police are showing a hard-hitting Operation Trident advertising campaign during the school Easter holidays.

The ad will be shown music TV channels and the Internet and targets young people, encouraging them to come forward with information about gun crime to police or Crimestoppers.

The Trident advert, entitled ‘Blood on Your Hands’, was originally launched in 2005 and shown only in limited cinemas. It carries the message:

“If you know someone has got a gun but don’t report it, you could have blood on your hands.”

The ad will run again for the three weeks during the Easter Holidays and began broadcast on the 2nd April 2007.

Detective Chief Superintendent Helen Ball, Head of Trident said:

“We decided to re-run this campaign following the tragic deaths of Michael Dosunmu, James Andre Smartt-Ford and Billy Cox in February this year. The message in this campaign is clear – we want to encourage young people to report guns to police or use Crimestoppers anonymously. People can take positive steps to help combat gun crime and we want everyone to think about how they can do this.”

The advert is being shown on TV channels MTV Base, MTV Dance, Channel U/Fizz and Passion TV. It will also be appearing on-line on Channel U, Choice FM, RWD and Jumpoff.tv. The ad can also be downloaded from our media pages.

Anyone with information about gun crime should contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111. Crimestoppers is an independent charity that guarantees anonymity.
