TRIDENT SPONSORSHIP OF MET BASKETBALL TEAM

Trident has officially gained a new partner in its fight against gun crime, in the form of the Met's award winning basketball 1st team. Trident is proudly sponsoring the team, and the new kit is a hit with players and spectators alike.

Trident sponsored Met Police Basketball Team

The Met's 1st team play in the high profile London Metropolitan League Premier Division, and have been National champions for two consecutive years. Most of the teams in the league are from established Trident boroughs such as Hackney, Lambeth and Southwark, and as part of the sponsorship deal the MPS team will be handing out Trident information and marketing materials to the opposition players and crowds.

One third of the MPS 1st team are community players with black and ethnic minority backgrounds, three of whom have recently applied to become police officers. This cosmopolitan line up never fails to make an impact upon opposition players and local supporters.

Helen Ball, Head of Trident, said:
"The Met basketball team are hugely committed, energetic and talented people, who are very successful in what they do. Trident's officers, staff and partners have all the same qualities and we are very proud to be associated with such a successful team. Trident is committed to supporting initiatives that divert young people away from the potential of carrying firearms, and help them to make the most of their valuable lives. Promoting Trident and our important anti-gun message is an excellent way to achieve this."

Met Basketball team Chair Commander Rod Jarman added;
"Basketball is a growing sport in London and the Met's team realised several years ago how they could used sport as a way of building relationships and trust. Trident's sponsorship has allowed us to meet young people from areas we wouldn't normally reach."
